Dear Member,
I hope you are keeping well.
Whilst 2020 has been a difficult year for many of us, I do hope you managed to get out and fish our beats once they were opened after the first lockdown. I have heard of some very good trout and grayling fishing together with salmon and seatrout also coming to the net on our waters. I have worked with the Angling Trust and Fish Legal to keep our fishing open and protected during the restrictions.
The current government Covid 19 restrictions have made it impossible to plan and hold our Annual General Meeting this December so I am sorry to inform you that I have decided to postpone indefinitely until I am confident that we will be reliably able to book a venue and hold the meeting safely in line with whatever Covid 19 restrictions are in place.
Despite the pandemic your Committee has been busy over the year and I am delighted to inform you the Association has completed purchase of new water on the Tamar at Lower Goodmansleigh.
This beat offers over 500 metres of fishing available on our Full (C) Ticket and is open for winter grayling fishing as with our other Tamar beats. It is also good salmon, seatrout and trout water subject to their relevant season. Please check the rules and beat maps, which are available from those links
Your Committee has also reviewed the Association’s angling rules; you will find these have been simplified and rationalised and can now also be viewed on this website.
I am pleased to inform you we have frozen subscriptions for the 2021 Full (C) and Summer (A) Tickets and rationalised the student and junior tickets, all are summarised below and which I believe offer exceptional value.
- Full Ticket (previously C) – 1st January to 31st December, all beats: £100
- Summer Ticket (previously A) – Access 15th March to 30th September Beats 6,8,10,11,12&14: £65
- Student Ticket – 50% discount on Full Ticket or Summer Ticket for any person aged 16 years or over in full time education.
- Junior Ticket aged 13 to 15 inclusive – Free and only available on the Summer Ticket.
- Child Ticket aged under 13 – Free with an adult’s Full or Summer Ticket and must fish accompanied by the adult ticket holder and only on beats and times as allowed on the adult’s Ticket.
I trust you find the above agreeable and on behalf of the LAA Committee may I wish you a pleasant festive season and tight lines for the coming year.
Yours truly
Martin Harmer
Chairman, Launceston Anglers Association
