With the river water temperature on the Tamar very high and the extremely hot weather set to continue for the next week at least, please take extra care while fishing to help protect our vulnerable fish stocks.
The prolonged hot and dry weather is causing low river flows, low oxygen levels and elevated water temperatures all of which lead to increased levels of stress on fish.
When water temperatures are over 20 degrees many fish species, including Salmon, Seatrout and Brown trout are likely to die after capture, and therefore it is safer not to fish while temperatures remain high.
We would ask members to cease fishing whilst the water temperature is 20 degrees or above.

If in doubt please do not fish

Thank you
